COVID boosters now available to eligible individuals

The 66th Medical Squadron is now offering a second COVID-19 booster dose to eligible individuals. According to MDS officials, those eligible for a second Moderna or Pfizer booster must have received their initial booster at least four months ago, and fall into one of the following categories: Individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson’s Jansen COVID-19 vaccine as their initial vaccine dose and booster dose; Adults 50 years and older; Everyone 12 years and older who are moderately or severely immunocompromised. COVID vaccines, boosters move to weekday appointments at clinic

Effective Feb. 7, COVID-19 vaccines and boosters will be available by appointment on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Immunizations Clinic here from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Patients can receive doses of the Moderna vaccine on Mondays, and Pfizer doses on Wednesdays and Fridays. COVID Testing Procedures

Confirmed positive patients: Required to stay home for 5 days from either day of positive test or symptom onset, whichever came first and then wear a mask for an additional 5 days after returning to work.

Returning to work: In order to return to work, individuals must complete a minimum of 5 days of isolation and symptoms are resolved or significantly better, including being fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medicines for 24 hours.

COVID Exposure: If someone is exposed to COVID, they should wear a mask for 10 days from exposure but can continue to work.

If someone has symptoms, they should seek testing either at the 66 MDS clinic or at home but clinic only performs testing now for readiness needs.  Anyone with COVID should wear a mask while symptomatic and discuss with their supervisor about either quarters or teleworking while waiting for test results.

COVID-19 questions can be addressed to the Public Health office at 781-225-6295 or by email.

Individuals who test positive for COVID using an-at home test should notify their supervisor and remain at home. Individuals should not self-report to Public Health, but should coordinate through their chain of command. All positive test results, either home or PCR, should be reported to Public Health by the individual’s unit in a timely manner to ensure reporting is as accurate as possible. PCR tests may be accomplished from any licensed medical provider and are also available through 66 MDS by calling the Hanscom Clinic appointment line at 781-225-6789.

The 66th Medical Squadron will provide COVID vaccines and boosters on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at the Immunization Clinic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hanscom personnel can receive doses of the Moderna vaccine on Mondays, and Pfizer doses on Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments can be made at https://informatics-stage.health.mil/DAP/.

The 66 MDS is offering initial vaccine doses of Moderna for patients 18 and older, and Pfizer for patients ages 5 and older. 

Booster doses are now available for patients ages 12 to 15 years old, who completed their initial vaccine series at least five months ago. Booster appointments can be scheduled for the weekly POD at https://health.mil/dap.html.

Calling ahead for pharmacy prescriptions by calling 781-225-6173 is encouraged. This will minimize your wait time at the pharmacy. The Hanscom Clinic Pharmacy hours of operation to 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

Beneficiaries who rely on the Hanscom Clinic for primary care should contact the clinic at 781-225-6789 if they are experiencing symptoms or have specific concerns they believe might be related to COVID-19. Base personnel who are not enrolled to Hanscom Clinic should contact their primary care provider with health-related questions and concerns.
