HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, MASS. – Air Force Materiel Command federal civilian employees now have access to WorkLife4You, an agency-paid benefit designed to help employees and their families manage their work and personal responsibilities.

The program provides access to resources and information when employees need it, freeing them to do other important tasks.

“WorkLife4You is a resource and referral service for Defense Department civilian employees and their family members,” said Ina Bachman, an Employee Assistance Program counselor who works on base. “Help is available for just about anything you can think of, including settling into your home, finding care for an elderly parent, getting a good attorney, medical referrals and school information, to mention just a few.”

Those eligible can call 24-hours-a-day to speak with specialists on topics such as child development, gerontology, education, finance and law. Specialists are available to provide personalized guidance to meet each individual’s specific needs.

“Finding time for yourself and your family can be difficult when you work, but by assessing your priorities and managing your time, you can balance the many roles you have at home and at work,” Bachman said.

The WorkLife4You program also provides individuals with trusted child and elder care resources, caregiver counseling and education, as well as transportation resources.

In addition, the Geriatric Care Management program provides in-home care assessments, facility reviews, post-hospitalization assessments and coordination of continued care.

Another benefit available to AFMC employees are WorkLife4You kits.

“Free kits are also available to support and enhance our most common caregiver requests,” Bachman said. “Among them include prenatal, child safety, college, adult caregiver and Be Well kits.”

Each kit contains free products and information to assist with parenting and adult responsibilities.

Bachman also highlighted that the website provides users tips, checklists and in-depth articles on a number of topics, as well as webinars, financial calculators, audio tips, parenting discussion groups, podcasts and streaming videos.

The program has been available to AFMC employees since October 2016.
