HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The spring Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Focus Week will be April 24 to 28 and registration is now open.

This session, the offerings include a number of general topic courses to be held here at Hanscom. Those classes include “Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program for APC's,” “DTS Special Topics,” “Central Shipping and Receiving Overview,” “Active Shooter Response/Survival Brief” and “AcqDemo Contribution Planning Workshop.”

The 66th Security Forces Squadron will present the Active Shooter Response/Survival Brief, which will cover preparation, planning and response through a series of strategies. Note that this course complements, but does not replace, the required HanscomNet Active Shooter computer-based training. The Central Shipping and Receiving Overview will provide information from the 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron about properly shipping and receiving packages and equipment, emphasizing the new Central Shipping and Receiving section in Building 1110, which is now the main point of entry and departure for all parcels and freight on base.

For the DTS Special Topics course, prior DTS basic knowledge is recommended, as the course will cover topics such as “Constructed Travel Worksheet” and “Leave during TDY,” while the GTCC Program course is intended for agency program coordinators. The AcqDemo workshop will serve as an introduction to the contribution planning process and includes details on how to develop an AcqDemo contribution plan.

“Focus Week provides a set time for personnel to attend training and offers organizations a chance to expand upon or emphasize specific training,” said Randy Bergeron, 66th Air Base Group Focus Week coordinator. “Some of the topics being covered this session are ones that the organizations get a large number of questions about.”

In addition, on April 26 and 27, Hanscom's Engineering Directorate will be hosting "Hanscom Innovation Event 2017: Fostering a Culture of Innovation" as part of Focus Week. The two-day event will showcase informational presentations about innovation "how to" and successes; demonstrations with examples of program/lab innovation successes; as well as poster board research exhibits on cyber resiliency and command and control for multi-domain operations. There will also be an "Innovation Roundtable" at the event's culmination, where personnel can participate in an interactive discussion focused on successful innovation strategies, lessons and insights from key program leaders and community innovators to address Air Force program challenges.

A number of functional-area specific courses, such as for logistics professionals, are also being held on base.

As in the past, distance learning courses will be available through Defense Collaboration Services. Some of the functional-topic classes to be presented this way include “Acquisition Reporting,” “Acquisition Security: Program Protection Planning,” “FMS Policy Updates,” “Technical Evaluation Training” and “Sole Source Negotiation.”
