HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The final issue of Hanscom’s official base newspaper, The Hansconian, will run June 23.

The commercial publisher responsible for printing and distributing the paper informed the Hanscom Public Affairs staff of its decision to terminate publication June 2.

The Hanscom newspaper, briefly referred to by other names, has been published weekly by the base Public Affairs Office since 1955.

“The Hansconian was for decades the central medium for employees, residents and other interested members of the Hanscom community to get the news and information they needed,” said Chuck Paone, chief of Public Affairs. “Over time, with the rise of digital platforms, the printed newspaper’s criticality diminished. Nevertheless, some continued to depend on it and appreciate it. I hope our strong web and social media presence will help lessen any negative effects of this decision.”

The Hanscom public website, www.hanscom.af.mil, will continue to serve as the most up-to-date news source for Hanscom Air Force Base. Personnel may also get the latest news and information via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram.

Public Affairs launched a mobile app in 2019 that also provides information about events happening on base, the most-up-to-date news, local resources and more.

Base personnel interested in having a story or upcoming event published on the website, should call Public Affairs at 781-225-1685 or send an email to Hanscom.Hansconian@hanscom.af.mil.
