HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will host the annual holiday tree lighting ceremony Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. outside Building 1530, Outdoor Recreation.

The tree lighting will follow a parade through base housing beginning at 3 p.m.

“These events are about making memories wherever we are in our Air Force journey,” said Senior Airman Jachin Henderson, Hanscom Dorm Council secretary and coordinator for the event. “It’s a great opportunity to get our community together.”

Henderson and other dorm council volunteers are participating in the superhero-themed parade, and will hand out pre-bagged candy, toys and cookie-decorating kits.

“This is all about the children in our community and their fun and joy,” he said.

In front of Outdoor Recreation, the Hanscom First Sergeants Council will have hot chocolate and snacks available, and the Hanscom Middle School choir will sing holiday carols.

Col. Katrina Stephens and Chief Master Sgt. William Hebb, installation commander and command chief, will light the holiday tree with help from superheroes and holiday characters.

“Everyone is invited to join us, celebrate and laugh, and light the tree,” said Henderson.
