HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Medical Squadron is now offering COVID-19 boosters to patients ages 5 to 11.

Pediatric patients are eligible if it has been at least five months since the completion of their original vaccination series, or three months since completing the original series and the patient is moderately or severely immunocompromised.

Eligible patients must be TRICARE beneficiaries.

At this time, only the Pfizer vaccine is approved for this age group.

“Boosters are important for this age population, especially as we move into the summer months when group activities are picking up,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Gough, 66 MDS public health emergency officer.

Appointments for booster doses can be scheduled through the Defense Health Agency appointment portal at https://health.mil/dap.html. Pfizer doses are available on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Pediatric patients must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Initial boosters and vaccines are still available for those who need them. Second COVID boosters are also available to eligible individuals.
