HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will host the annual tree lighting ceremony Dec. 1 at 5 p.m. outside Outdoor Recreation, building 1530, on Barksdale Street.

The tree lighting will follow a parade through base housing beginning at 3:15 p.m.

“We’re a small community here at Hanscom, so it’s always great to get our people out and together,” said Senior Airman Everly Wilkes, co-coordinator for the event.

This year’s parade will be candy-themed and will feature several holiday characters.

In addition, in front of Outdoor Recreation, attendees can decorate stockings with the Company Grade Officer Council, and the Hanscom First Sergeants Council will have toys, snacks and hot chocolate available beginning at 4 p.m.

Coordinators are still looking for volunteers to assist in decorating the area outside Building 1530..

“This event is a great way to get involved with the installation and to connect with other Airmen on the installation,” said Staff Sgt. Morgan Stevens, co-coordinator for the event.

Col. Taona Enriquez and Chief Alan Weary, installation commander and command chief, will officially light the tree.

“I really enjoy seeing people smile around the holidays, so we hope everyone in our community comes out to the event,” said Wilkes.
