HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base personnel have until June 16 to contribute to the annual Air Force Assistance Fund charitable drive here. The goal for this year's Hanscom fundraising effort is $18,510.

The Air Force Assistance Fund is a Department of the Air Force annual fundraising effort to assist past and present Airmen, Guardians, and their families, with unexpected challenges and financial hardships through four charities: The Air Force Aid Society, General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, Air Force Village Charitable Foundation, and the Air Force Enlisted Village.

“These are the four official charities of the Department of the Air Force, which are for Airmen and Guardians, by Airmen and Guardians,” said Master Sgt. Raymond H. Rocheleau, this year’s co-project officer at Hanscom.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Air Force Assistance Fund.

According to organizers, there are multiple ways to give. The easiest is by making a donation at the Hanscom Air Force Assistance Fund campaign page at https://secure.qgiv.com/event/afaf/classification/276966/.

Donors also have the option to donate by texting “AFAF” to 50155 or by scanning the QR code, then navigating to “Hanscom,” where they are able to make a one-time or recurring donation.

“Contributing to the Air Force Assistance Fund is not just a donation, it’s an investment in the well-being of our Air Force community, and a demonstration of our gratitude for the sacrifice and service of past and present Airmen and Guardians,” said Tech. Sgt. Andrew Kulakowski, Hanscom co-project officer.

According to the Air Force Aid Society website, the annual campaign raised $2.2 million in support of Air Force and Space Force families last year alone.
