The month of November is Military Family Month, a time to recognize the sacrifices and contributions made by every member of the military family.

Originally established in 1993, Military Family Month was first celebrated by the Armed Services YMCA, according to the organization's website. The U.S. government has recognized the occasion every year since.

In his Military Family Month proclamation, President Barack Obama wrote that, "The United States is stronger and safer thanks to the millions of military family members who, in sacrificing cherished moments with their loved ones, selflessly afford us precious time with ours."

Locally, the 66th Force Support Squadron plans to honor military families with a variety of activities such as a craft workshop, fun run, movie night and more.
