Members of the Chief's Group, Top Three Association and First Sergeant Council are collecting frozen turkey's Nov. 18 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Commissary parking lot for members of the Hanscom community in need this Thanksgiving.

The frozen turkeys will then be distributed in the Commissary parking lot that afternoon, from noon to five p.m., or until gone.

The event was created five years ago to help families celebrate Thanksgiving.

"Taking care of Team Hanscom during the holidays is the right thing to do," said Master Sgt. Nicholas Souza, 66th Comptroller Squadron first sergeant. "We can use all the help we can get so if anyone wants to donate a turkey, please drop off a frozen one anytime in the morning on Nov. 18."

The target group is enlisted members E-1 through E-6, as well as civilian employees GS-1 through GS-7.

"If you know someone that doesn't fall into that category, but you feel is in need of a turkey, please contact any first sergeant and we will evaluate based on their circumstance," Souza said.

The turkey drive is for anyone in need, but organizers would like to see younger members of the community benefit first.
