Professional organizations associated with Hanscom will setup in the Tennis Bubble June 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide members of the community an introduction into each organization's mission and how to get involved in them.

The Professional Organization Expo was the result of a Community Action Information Board, or CAIB, action item that sought to get servicemembers and their dependents as well as civilians more actively involved in the community.

"The CAIB was exploring innovative approaches to help Team Hanscom bolster community involvement, and develop mentoring and volunteering opportunities for the workforce -- whether you have been here six months or six years," said Capt. Joy Lawal, Equal Opportunity deputy director and event organizer. "One of our main goals in Equal Opportunity is to enhance cross-cultural awareness and to promote diversity and unit cohesion."

As a member of the Integrated Delivery System, or IDS, the EO team supports opportunities for personnel to network and get to know one another.

That is evident in the expo's theme, "People Helping People Who Work, Live and Play at Hanscom."

Among the many professional organizations that will be on hand are the Company Grade Officers Council for second lieutenants through captain, Hanscom Spouses Club for spouses of the Hanscom workforce and the Patriot Enlisted Association for enlisted personnel in the ranks of airman basic through staff sergeant.

"We'll have a little bit of everything on hand for all members of the community," said Lawal. "Whether you are a CGO, first-term airman, civilian or dependent -- there will be an organization for you."

And if learning more about the many organizations on base isn't enough, free hamburgers and hot dogs are also planned.

"We're really excited about this event," said Lt. Col. Romero Reid, 66th Air Base Group deputy commander. "We hope the Hanscom community will attend to see what's available on base and get involved."
