Charles Anthony Braswell, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center director of contracting for Hanscom New contracting chief: Love the gray matter
The lifelong civil servant was born on Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, and is the son of an Air Force staff sergeant, who was a cook. Braswell has eight children and, so far, twelve grandchildren. Now that he’s arrived at Hanscom, Braswell’s already scanned local university sports schedules for upcoming matches with Brigham Young, Utah and Idaho State Universities, his alma maters. However, he jokingly lamented his first experience with the local commute, and twice encouraged supervisors to provide their contracting officers and specialists with opportunities to telework.

Dr. Donald Hoying holds a solid state module on Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., Nov. 29, 2017. Upgrades to missile detection radar earns civilian recognition
The award is Hoying’s most recent of many for his role in addressing key capability upgrades. His team hardened radars to survive electromagnetic pulses, protected sites against cyberattack and consolidated multiple sustainment contracts, saving the government $50 million. Solid State Module replacement, the largest update underway, will address an estimated 25,000 aging components in the BMEWS system, positioning the radars for expanded future capability.

Medical technician week Crisis response earns Med Squadron Airmen awards
Maj. Edward Walters, Aerospace and Operational Medicine flight commander, picked up Field Grade Officer of the Year, while Capt. John Doleski, Family Advocacy element chief, won Company Grade Officer of the Year. In the group category, the business operations and beneficiary services flight won Health Plan Management Team of the Year. All three winners go on to compete at the Air Force level.

Stocklin, who was recently named Air Force Life Cycle Management company grade officer of the quarter, is 25 years old. He also works with users, providing a bridge between Airmen who operate surveillance systems, contractors building the system and combatant commanders charged with homeland defense.
