OBTAINING MEDICAL CARE WHEN WINTER WEATHER HITS

Posted 11/20/2012 Printable Fact Sheet

In the event of inclement winter weather, call the Hanscom Weather Information System Hotline at 781-225-COLD prior to departing for your medical appointment.

If the base has a delayed opening, the clinic will follow the same delayed opening procedures and any appointments during this timeframe will be automatically cancelled. If the base is closed, the clinic will also be closed and appointments will be automatically cancelled.

Any patients with booked appointments during these times will be called within 48 hours of opening to reschedule. Patients may also call the Hanscom Clinic Call Center at 781-225-6789, visit TRICARE On Line at www.tricareonline.com or use MiCare at https://app.relayhealth.com/ to reschedule the appointment.

At all times, if emergency care is required, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for treatment. Prior authorization is not required for emergency care. If the base is closed and a patient requires non-emergent care that cannot wait until the clinic reopens, call the Hanscom Clinic Call Center at 781-225-6789 and request to speak to the on-call provider. The on-call provider will provide instructions or may authorize use of an emergency room if medically necessary.
