66TH SECURITY FORCES SQUADRON -- VISITORS CENTER
Hanscom Visitor Center
The Hanscom Visitor Center is located in building 1617 near the Vandenberg Gate. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Visitor Center provides temporary passes for both short and long term visits to the installation. It also provides limited vehicle identification decals for senior officers and civilians. All sponsors must direct their non-Department of Defense affiliated guests to the Visitor Center where all visitors will be verified and passes will be issued. The Visitor Center is also the focal point for functions and special events for guests who have no DoD affiliation.
HOT NEWS: Effective immediately, Hanscom Air Force Base no longer requires individuals to have a DD Form 2220 on their vehicle. All individuals who posses a DOD CAC or military ID card may gain access to the installation by presenting their ID card at Installation gates. When asked, drivers must be able to provide proof of vehicle insurance.
If arriving during duty hours:
Visitors must be identified by their sponsor (a valid DoD ID card holder) prior to arrival. The sponsor may pre-announce their visitor by calling (781) 377-4260/1081/1085 or DSN 478-4260/1081/1085. Sponsors may also pre-announce their visitor in person at the Visitor Center or by e-mailing from a .mil account. The sponsor must meet their visitor at the determined location given by the sponsor. The sponsor should provide the following information:
1. Sponsor's name, organization, address and contact number.
2. Visitors name, both first and last.
3. Expected length of the visit.
4. Location of the visit.
Sponsors should ensure their visitors have all the necessary information prior to their arrival. All visitors should know the sponsor's name, contact number and location to be visited. Failure to provide this information may cause delays and result in denial of entry to the installation.
The sponsor should also inform the visitor that they must have a valid ID in their possession when they arrive. If the visitor will be driving a vehicle onto the installation, they must have a valid registration and proof of vehicle insurance. Vehicles registered in Massachusetts will have proof of insurance on the registration. Visitors with vehicles registered in other states must have a proof of insurance card or paper in their possession. Although New Hampshire and other states may not require vehicle insurance, DoD and Hanscom AFB requires proof of insurance. Failure to present these documents will result in denial of vehicle entry to the installation.
Walk-In Visitor Access:
Walk-in visitors must provide a sponsor and contact number for the person they are visiting. Visitors who have not been pre-announced should expect delays. If the visitor is unable to contact the sponsor or the Visitor Center is unable to identify the sponsor as an authorized DoD ID card holder, the visitor will be denied entry.
After Duty Hours:
Visitors arriving to the base after 8 p.m. but prior to 10 p.m. or on weekends will need to call the Vandenberg Gate at (781) 377-6925. If calling after 10 p.m., please call the Hartwell Gate at (781) 377-3623. Sponsors will need to provide the same information as listed above.
Organizations and Sponsors Hosting Special Events:
When hosting an event involving 10 or more visitors, the host or sponsor must complete a special event cover letter and provide a list of guests on a separate page. The list must be alphabetized and contain last and first names. The completed cover letter and list must be submitted in person or via e-mail, but must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the event. Any request submitted less than 48 hours prior to scheduled events requires the approval of the 66th Mission Support Group Commander.
A minimum of two sponsors are required for large events. Sponsors must be immediately available by phone during the event to verify last minute arrivals. If the sponsor is expecting DV or VIP guests, the sponsor may be positioned at the gate at the sponsor's discretion. If a guest arrives, is not on the list, and the sponsor cannot be contacted, the guest will be denied entry to the installation.
Pass and Registration:
The Visitor Center should not be confused with the Pass and Registration office, which processes the long term passes in building 1305, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
