Hanscom AFB is in Middlesex County, MA, and touches the towns of Bedford, Concord, Lincoln and Lexington - the birthplace of America.
Hanscom is approximately 20 miles northwest of Boston, MA; 25 miles south of Nashua, New Hampshire; and 85 miles from Portland, Maine. Hanscom is about 4 hours from New York City.

Sponsorship
You may request a sponsor through your current MPF Relocation Section. If time is getting short, contact our Sponsor Section at DSN 312-478-3513/2276, 781-377-3513/2276. Your sponsor may be extremely helpful by contacting you to determine specific needs, sending a package of base information, researching questions for you, referring you to appropriate base agencies, picking you up at the airport and showing you around the base once you arrive. If you do not connect with your sponsor, the Base Lodging facility is your after-duty hours arrival point.
If you arrive during duty hours, head to your unit for check-in.
Mail Enroute: Please contact the Hanscom Postal Service Center (PSC) at DSN: 312-478-4069 or 781-377-4069 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday approximately three weeks prior to arrival.
Single Military: Military members who will be living permanently in the Enlisted dorms will be assigned a box and issued a key upon arrival to Hanscom.
Shipping boxes: If you are planning to ship boxes or any other bulk items please e-mail us and let us know when you will be arriving, and we will store your packages at the official mail center. The Postal Service Center is located in Building 1515.

Lodging/Temporary Quarters
Please call as far as possible to make reservations at the Temporary Lodging Facility, 781-377-2753/2112 or DSN 312- 478-2753/2112. Central AF reservations number is: 1-888-AF-LODGE. There are 8 pet-friendly rooms in the TLF. Please call in advance to reserve. Local hotels are very expensive. Junior enlisted personnel should work closely with their sponsor and First Sergeant to ensure a dorm room is ready on their arrival.
Relocation Assistance, Airman and Family Readiness Center
Stop by the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 1218, 781-377-4222, between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for a personal welcome, extensive area information, personal invitation to all arrival events, and loan locker items to borrow while you are awaiting your household goods. HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE HOUSING
Hunt Pinnacle Communities, HP Communities, LLC, is honored to have the opportunity to operate and manage the family housing at Hanscom Air Force Base. The Hunt Pinnacle team will be working to renovate where needed and maintain the family housing while providing exceptional management services to their residents.
Hunt Pinnacle is currently accepting applications from: All active duty military members, National Guard, Reserve, Federal Civil Service Employees, Retired Uniformed Services Members, Retired Civil Service Employees, Permanent Employees of DoD Contractors and their families. General Information:
Gate Hours: Hartwell Gate -- 24 hours/7 days
Vandenberg Gate -- 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.; 7 days
MIT Gate -- 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
If you arrive after duty hours or on the weekend, visit the Hanscom Inn, (781) 377- 2112, for lodging and arrival information. If you are an unaccompanied Airman and lodging is full, contact your Unit Orderly Room or the after-hours Command Post at (781) 377-5144. Your First Sergeant will ensure you are housed in one of the dormitories.
Visitors Center
The Hanscom Visitors Center is located next to the Vandenberg Gate and hours of operation are: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. All sponsors must direct non-military guests to the Visitors Center where their visit will be verified and a pass issued.
State Vehicle Registration & Licensing Requirements
Base Regulations
Hanscom AFB enforces Massachusetts motor vehicle laws. The handbook of MA motor vehicle laws may be reviewed at Pass and Vehicle Registration, Bldg 1305, upon request.
Violations of traffic laws may result in heavy fines, suspension, or revocation of on-base driving privileges. Call the Security Police at 781-377-2314 if you have questions.
Chapel and religious services
The Hanscom Chapel offers Catholic masses, Protestant, Jewish, Orthodox and Muslim services on a regular basis. Chaplains are available to provide confidential counseling and guidance. The chapel facilities are also available for weddings. Interested individuals should contact the chapel for specific details. For more information about services, call (781) 377-3538.
Information for Active Duty AF personnel:
Base gas mask fit testing for Active Duty Air Force personnel are every Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Please ensure that you have not smoked, chewed gum, or used perfume at least 30 minutes prior to being fit tested. Personnel must stop by Base Supply to get their gas mask and size prior to being fit tested. The fit testing is conducted at building 1212. If you have been notified of a short notice deployment call (781) 377-2181 to get scheduled or for other questions.
Pets and Hanscom Veterinary Treatment Facility
Animals are required to be registered at the Hanscom Veterinary Facility within 30 days of moving into base housing. Exotic animals are not allowed on Hanscom AFB. Dogs need a current rabies certificate and canine distemper vaccine. Cats need a current rabies certificate and feline distemper vaccine. A lyme disease vaccine is also available.
