3/24/2011 - HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Medical Squadron is launching AudioNotes, a fully automated messaging service to ensure enrolled patients can receive lab results and other important patient information in a timely and reliable fashion.

Patients will have access to a secure personal voice mailbox and primary care managers will use the patients' voice mailboxes to leave important health care messages. Patient voice mailboxes may be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

When a message is placed into a patient's mailbox, they will receive an automated call informing them that they have an unplayed message. Patients will be able to listen to their messages by calling 781-377-1522 and entering their information and Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Messages will be saved in the patient's mailbox and automatically removed after 30 days. If a patient has questions regarding the message left to them, they are encouraged to call the Naval Healthcare New England Call Center at 1-888-NAVYMED (1-888-628-9633). The provider, or a member of their provider's team, will call the patient back within 72 hours to address the patient's questions.

The patient information will consist of the sponsor's Social Security Number, followed by the Family Member Prefix (FMP). The FMP is a two-digit code used to differentiate the identity and eligibility among family members. For more information regarding FMPs, patients may visit the Medical Records section at the clinic.

Patients will create their PIN the first time they call the messaging service to listen to their mailbox. Patients who forget their PIN, or get locked out, can have their PIN reset by calling the 66th Medical Squadron's group practice manager at 781-377-4021.

In order for patients to receive automated calls from AudioNotes, to include appointment reminders, the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS) must be up-to-date. Sponsors can update DEERS online at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/mydodbenefits or in person at the MPF Customer Service in Building 1603.

Officials at the medical squadron believe patients will find the AudioNotes system convenient and easy to use. They are committed to providing world-class health care to the patients and feel this system will further enhance their ability to provide that level of care.
