HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. –Hunt Pinnacle, joined by 66th Air Base Wing leaders marked the beginning of demolition work to make way for the construction of new homes for Hanscom residents. In a brief ceremony on July 23, Tim Stengel, Hunt project manager said “This is an exciting day; this is important work for us, important work for the base.” The Rev. Lawrence Smith from the Hanscom Base Chapel offered blessings over the construction site and the workers. Col. Dave Orr, 66th Air Base Wing commander spoke of the importance of this milestone saying, “Today is a great day for Hunt Pinnacle, this project and most importantly our residents. We’re pleased to see this project moving forward with the delivery of quality homes for our residents and we are proud of the partnership and all of the people that are making this happen.” Shown from left to right are Dale Rowton; John Tew; Tim Kelley; Cameron Douglas; Lt. HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. - A contractor for Hanscom’s Civil Engineering uses an asphalt milling machine to grind up Bestic Drive between Barksdale Street and Schilling Circle, which eventually was re-paved. The paving project, which took place between July 13 and July 21, is one of 41 other base-wide projects all part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These construction initiatives also comprise roofing and steam-line repair and have created 55 new contracted job opportunities. (U.S. Air Force photo by Rick Berry)
