Technical experts, including members of Hanscom Air Force Base's Tactical Data Networks lab, work on integrating Efficient XML/Mobility Airborne-networking Multi-Layer Sensing, or EFX/MAMLS, into the Dynamic Retasking Capability system on a 143rd Airlift Wing C-130J aircraft during a test event at the Hanscom Collaboration and Innovation Center in June. The event used a new initiative, the Northeast Collaborative Research, Development, Test and Evaluation Environment, known as NCORE, to bring together assets and expertise from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and New England National Guard units. Underneath the spherical protective coverings are two Air Force Wideband Enterprise Terminals located at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. These terminals are among approximately 90 joint systems used worldwide to communicate and transfer information across the Global Information Grid. An Air Force Wideband Enterprise Terminal communicates with a satellite, passing information across the Global Information Grid at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. Thirty-two Air Force terminals are undergoing a Modernization of Enterprise Terminals, or MET, upgrade that will keep the system current for another 15 years.
