Thorpe, a member of the Sac and Fox Nation, was considered one of the greatest American athletes of all time. He won two gold medals in the 1912 Summer Olympics, played professional baseball for 20 years, played in 52 professional football games over the course of 8 seasons and was the first president of today’s National Football League.
