“Information protection is essential to enabling the warfighter to complete the mission securely and without compromise,” she said. “That’s been my driving purpose each day.”

Her role ensured that security policies were upheld through supporting more than 10,000 personnel at Hanscom AFB and geographically separated units throughout the region.

DeTora began her federal career in January 1978, contributing to several organizations at Hanscom AFB, including the former Electronic Systems Center, Acquisition Security, Intelligence Office and Special Projects, installation security forces squadrons, and the Commissary Service.

In her current role, she provided security oversight for two of the Air Force’s three Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, ensuring they remained secure under the Secretary of the Air Force’s direction.

A retirement ceremony honoring her service will take place May 22 at 1 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons in the Heritage Room.
