HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will host an Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month Festival at the Minuteman Commons here May 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for all those with base access.

The event is being held as part of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a celebration of Asian and Pacific Islander culture.

“Now more than ever, holding observances cultivates a sense of community, instills a sense of meaning to what the cultures are about and creates positive memories for all involved,” said Maj. Joshua Caragan, co-organizer for the event.

The festival will showcase the cultural displays of Pacific Islanders, including music, traditional dancing, food and drinks, as well as arts and crafts.

While the event is free to attend, organizers said from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., food will be available for purchase.

Because being held in-person, organizers ask attendees to follow the latest COVID guidelines.

Earlier this month, base officials hosted an Asian American and Pacific Islander virtual Storytellers event to recognize the annual observance.
