Hanscom to host Easter Egg hunt April 20

Base clean up day planned
Base officials announced a base wide clean up day will take place April 22. Officials encourage facility managers to organize basic clean up activities for their respective building. Civil Engineering has biodegradable and regular trash bags along with a limited number of rakes available for use at Building 1834.
HSC Spring Welcome
The Hanscom Spouses Club will host a Spring Welcome April 24 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at 3 Constitution Drive in base housing for newcomers and members. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be offered.

Strike Against Sexual Assault bowling event

Bubbling event planned
The 66th Force Support Squadron hosts Boston Baked Bubbles April 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons for all those with base access. Jeff Boyer will juggle bubbles, sculpt and build with bubbles, make fog-filled bubbles and much more. The event mixes comedy, music and interactive bubble-magic for audiences of all ages. The show includes free cookies and ice cream. Space is limited.

Holocaust Days of Remembrance keynote event
A Holocaust Days of Remembrance event will take place April 30 from noon to 1 p.m. at the O'Neill Auditorium in Building 1612. Tom White, coordinator of Educational Outreach for the Cohen Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Keene State College in New Hampshire, will discuss prejudices, myths, anxieties and fears that the Nazis used to become a mainstream political party in the early 20th Century within German society.

Healthy teen relationships focus of April 30 workshop
Healthy relationships will be the focus of a teen workshop for parents and/or guardians on April 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons Heritage Room. The event will include a presentation by the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force on internet safety, case studies of incidents from the local area and suggestions on how to protect your family, especially children from online predators.

Earth Day River Cleanup
Members of the Hanscom community are invited to participate in the 19th annual cleanup of Hanscom’s Shawsheen River and wetlands May 8 as part of Earth Day 2019. Volunteers are requested to show up at 10:30 a.m. at the Castle Park gazebo. Cleanup is expected to last until 12 noon.
Organizers suggest wearing appropriate foot wear and clothing. Many areas along the river banks are wet and slippery. The Environmental Office will supply cleanup bags, volunteers are asked to bring gloves. The cleanup effort is scheduled rain or shine.

Military Retiree Appreciation Day planned
Military retirees, spouses and retirees' dependent survivors of all ranks and services can attend the Military Retiree Appreciation Day event May 10 at the Minuteman Commons.
Hosted by the Hanscom Retiree Activities Office, this year's event will begin with an Information Services session from 10:30 to 1 p.m., followed by a presentation the Ted Painter, legislative director of the Armed Forces Retirees Association and co-director of the National Military and Veterans Alliance, at 1:30 p.m.

Bedford VA Annual Veterans Golf Tournament
The Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital will host a golf tournament at the Patriot's Golf Course in Bedford, Massachusetts, May 31 beginning with registration at 7 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The tournament will benefit Bedford VA veterans.

Chief Induction Ceremony scheduled
A Chief Master Sergeant Induction Ceremony will take place May 31 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons to recognize senor master sergeants recently selected for promotion to chief master sergeant.
Senior Master Sgts. Jessica McWain and Stephen Leonard, both members of the 66th Security Forces Squadron, will be recognized during the ceremony.
Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and the formal ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Attire for the evening is mess dress or semi-formal for military and business for civilians.

Scholarship golf tournament
The Lexington-Concord Chapter of AFCEA will host the annual Elmer J. Fuller Memorial Golf Tournament June 11 at the Marlboro Country Club in Marlboro, Massachusetts. The cost for industry participants is $175 per person, $80 per person for military and government civilians grades 0-4/GS-13 and below for current AFCEA members and $95 per person for non-members. Military and Department of Defense civilians, 0-3/GS-12 and below is $65 per person. Non-AFCEA members who qualify as Young AFCEANS, age 40 and below, will receive a new membership as part of the $65 registration fee. Entry fees cover greens fee, golf cart, dinner, door prizes, coffee and doughnuts, plus a contribution to the AFCEA Fellowship and ROTC awards programs.
