For base event information, visit the calendar page on the 66th Force Support Squadron's website or the internal community calendar that is only accessible with a common access card on an Air Force network computer.

Local community events can be found by visiting the Bedford, Concord, Lexington and Lincoln or the Boston and Massachusetts calendar sites.

A new mobile app provides base personnel with information about events happening on base, the most-up-to-date news, local resources and much more​. iPhone users may download the "USAF Connect" app via the Apple App Store. Android users can download at Google Play. Once downloaded, users should then select "Hanscom Air Force Base" when prompted from the Favorites portal. 

 

Boots to Business
Learn how to start, manage and finance your small business during this workshop Oct. 21-22 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The workshop will provide information about developing a business plan, legal considerations and much more. Presented by the Small Business Administration facilitators and agency partners. Completion leads to a free enrollment in an eight-week online business development class.

Private Sector Resume Writing 
This basic resume writing course will take place Oct. 22 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. The workshop will discusses how to write and format an effective resume and cover letter. Taught by Certified Career Coach, Dan Mazzuca.

Federal Resume Writing and USAJOBS

Career Exploration and Planning Track
This Department of Labor workshop will take place Oct. 24-25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for transitioning service members and their spouses. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to identify skills, increase awareness of training and credentialing programs and develop an action plan to achieve their career goals. Participants will complete a personalized career development assessment of occupational interest and ability.

RAO Health Fair planned
The Military Retiree Office will host a health fair Oct. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center.

The fair coincides with the open season that will run Nov. 11 to Dec. 9. Enrollment choices made during this period will take effect Jan. 1, 2020. 

Among those dental and vision insurance providers attending include, Aetna insurance, Blue Cross and Blue Shield Federal, Delta Dental, GEHA, MetLife and United Health Care. Other medical health insurance providers attending include, Humana Military and U.S. Family Health.

Outside of open season, personnel can only enroll in or make changes to TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Select plans following a Qualifying Life Event. A QLE is a certain change in your life, such as marriage, birth of a child, change of address, or retirement from active duty. Different TRICARE health plans may be available to you and your family members after a QLE.

Annual Salute to Veterans scheduled
The 66th Air Base Group commander will host the eighth annual Salute to Veterans Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center. This year’s tribute will again focus on veterans who served honorably, whether retired or honorably discharged.

All interested veterans should contact Bobby Jacques at 781-225-1333 or by email at robert.jacques@us.af.mil to attend the event. The ceremony is open to all members of Team Hanscom.

 

Hanscom Little Learner Playgroup
This free 10-week playgroup will take place every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hanscom Family Housing Community Room for mobile babies to age 5 (pre-Kindergarten) and their caregiver. There will be free-play time, activities for different age groups, and a circle time with stories, songs and rhymes. Non-mobile infant siblings may attend if “worn” in a carrier.

Any family who has access to Hanscom Air Force Base is welcome. Facilitated by Ellie Springer, M.Ed. Early Childhood.

Toastmasters Club
Advance your career and increase your confidence by developing your public speaking skills with Toastmasters. The Hanscom Researchers Toastmaster Club meets at the Hanscom Federal Credit Union on base, the second, fourth and fifth Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome to visit.
