HANSCOM AIR FOCE BASE, Mass. – The Integrated Resiliency Cell here is hosting a virtual Storytellers event March 18 at 11:30 a.m. to pay tribute to Women’s History Month and the contributions of female service members and Department of Defense civilian employees to the DOD’s mission.

Chief Master Sgt. Jessica McWain, who previously served as the 66th Security Forces Squadron superintendent from 2016 to 2019, will serve as the guest speaker for the event, and will share her personal story of rising through the ranks as a defender.

“As a military member, a defender, a mom and a wife, it’s inspiring to see a female chief accomplish all that Chief McWain has,” said Tech. Sgt. Christine Tuato’o, project officer for the event.

Tuato’o said she remembers working hard herself to prove she could “keep up” as a young Airman in the male-dominated career field, but that more and more females are choosing to join.

“It’s empowering to see women rising to become leaders at any rank, and to know we can make it to the rank of Chief, or even be the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force,” she said.

Tuato’o said she hopes the event will empower viewers, male and female, to excel in their careers and personal lives.

McWain now serves as the 673rd Security Forces Squadron manager at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

Personnel can watch the event via Zoom with Meeting ID: 161 3960 7113.
