A new mobile app provides base personnel with information about events happening on base, the most-up-to-date news, local resources and much more​. iPhone users may download the "USAF Connect" app via the Apple App Store. Android users can download at Google Play. Once downloaded, users should then select "Hanscom Air Force Base" when prompted from the Favorites portal. 

 

Pickleball Club  
Base officials have announced the formation of a new Pickleball Club, now meeting every first and third Thursday of the month from 5 to 6 p.m. at the outdoor pickleball courts beside the Fitness and Sports Center. This event is free and open to all with base access. Participants who attend three sessions will receive a free t-shirt.

Fitness classes, training offered 
The Hanscom AFB Operational Support Team offers free strength and conditioning classes every weekday to enhance wellness and help active-duty members and the community achieve their fitness goals.

The classes, which incorporate strength training, conditioning, mobility, and core training, emphasize proper technique, community support, and lifelong exercise habits. They are ideal for those preparing for their fitness test, needing assistance with the body composition assessment, or wanting to learn more about exercise equipment and programming.

Classes are open to anyone aged 16 and older with base access, the classes are designed for all fitness levels, with exercises modified according to individual abilities. Sessions are held Monday through Friday at noon at the Fitness and Sports Center. Classes last approximately 45 to 60 minutes, including warmup and cool-down periods.

Ditching the Dorms workshop 
The Military and Family Readiness Center will host a Ditching the Dorm workshop Sept. 11 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Community Support Center in building 1240. This workshop provides an outline of things to consider when moving, such as initial expenses, creating a workable monthly budget, cost of moving, BAH rates, and tips on what to look for in your new place.

Smooth Move seminar 
The Military and Family Readiness Center will host a Smooth Move seminar Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Community Support Center in building 1240. This seminar is designed to familiarize service members with benefits, entitlements and processes related to permanent change of station moves. Mandatory voting assistance program briefing provided.

Air Force Ball to celebrate 77 years 
Team Hanscom is invited to attend the 2024 Air Force Ball Sept. 21. In celebration of the Air Force's 77th birthday, this year's theme is "Wings of Valor."

.The ball will be held at the Boston Marriott Burlington in the Celebrate Ballroom. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by the main event at 6:30 p.m.

 

Newcomer's Welcome and Hanscom AFB Connect Fair
The Military and Family Readiness Center will host a Newcomer's Welcome and Hanscom AFB Connect Fair Sept. 25 at the Community Support Center in building 1240. Both are mandatory for active duty Air Force and federal civilians who are new to Hanscom AFB.

Successful Job Interview Strategies workshop
This workshop, scheduled Sept. 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Community Support Center in building 1240, will discuss preparation, execution and proven strategies for a successful interview. Attendees will learn how to communicate labor value, demonstrate cultural alignment, and how to establish likeability and respect.  Taught by Certified Employment Interview Professional, Dan Mazzuca.

4th annual Air & Space Forces Association Paul Revere Chapter #178 fall golf outing
The Air & Space Forces Association Paul Revere Chapter #178 will host a golf tournament and luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Butter Brook Golf Club, Westford, Mass.  The tournament, registration at 7 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start, will honor former Hanscom AFB employee Greg Doran.  

Proceeds will support local Air Force veterans, including active duty, Guard, Reserve service members and their families, as well as those who deploy, local AF ROTC units, and chapter scholarship programs. All participants and sponsors welcome.

Toastmasters Club
Improve your relationships by developing communication, public speaking, evaluation and leadership skills with Toastmasters. The Hanscom Toastmasters club meets via Zoom on the first, second, fourth and fifth Wednesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. All are welcome to participate.
