HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron officials recently announced a new commuter shuttle service for Hanscom AFB military and federal civilian employees is now available.

This service is part of an LRS initiative to reduce the overall number of vehicles on the road and to promote alternative transportation options for base commuters.

“The shuttle service is a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly transportation option that allows Hanscom commuters to avoid the stress of driving in traffic while reducing carbon emissions,” said Mike Snyder, 66 LRS director.

The shuttle service offers four morning runs and three afternoon runs, with the morning pick up located at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, or MBTA, Concord Commuter Rail Station located at 90 Thoreau St, Concord, Massachusetts.

Morning pick-up shuttles will depart Concord Station at 5:30, 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 a.m. Officials anticipate arriving at Hanscom AFB approximately 20 minutes after departing Concord.

The afternoon pick-up locations are Hanscom AFB buildings 1606, 1604, 1305 and 1106, beginning at 3:25 p.m. through 5:25 p.m.

“The free shuttle service is aligned with the Department of Defense's commitment to sustainability and reducing negative environmental impacts,” said Snyder.

Anyone interested in participating must first register at a CAC-enabled SharePoint site operated by LRS officials.

Once registration is complete, employees can then reserve one of 15 seats per trip at a CAC-enabled SharePoint site for booking.

“Federal employees are eligible for up to $300 per month in TransServe Transit Benefits to help defray, and often fully cover, the costs of utilizing the Boston area subways and Commuter Rail to Hanscom Air Force Base,” said Snyder.
