HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials from the 66th Medical Squadron will offer influenza vaccinations during a point of distribution event at the Youth Center here Nov. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The flu shot will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for all eligible personnel 3 years and older including service members, dependents, federal civilians, defense contractors, and military retirees.

“If people don't want to wait until Nov. 17, they can come in and get their flu shot at the clinic from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every day, Monday through Friday,” said Lt. Col. Ryan Gough, 66 MDS public health emergency officer. “Those are by appointment only and they can either call, schedule online or come to the front desk to schedule it.”

The flu shot for children under 3 and COVID booster doses have not yet arrived. 66 MDS will make an announcement once they are available.

The flu shot is mandatory for all active duty and reserve members. However, the clinic encourages everyone to get a flu shot.

“The flu numbers have been down in the last couple of years because we've been masking due to COVID,” said Gough. “However, I expect the flu numbers to go up because we're not masking anymore.”

To schedule an appointment, call the MDS Immunization Clinic at 781-225-6172.
