Since 1961, the Hanscom Spouses Club has offered scholarships to military dependent children and spouses. This is a merit-based program, which rewards students who demonstrate academic scholarship, community service, leadership, volunteerism, and a diversity of interests.
The applicants are evaluated by a panel of impartial judges who consider academic records; work, volunteer, and life experiences; along with redacted letters of recommendation and the candidate’s essays.
The awards are made possible due to contributions by the AFA Paul Revere Chapter and the Minuteman Thrift Shop. HSC officials said that without the AFA’s contribution, the dedicated work of the Thrift Shop managers and volunteers, and the time and effort by the scholarship committee, the scholarship program would not be possible.
