Weather stations to speak one language

Three white boxes on a Fixed Base Weather Sensor, AN/FMQ-19, compose the Common Data Logger, installed by engineers at the Hanscom Weather Facility, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass. The CDL translates information coming down cables from the sensor tower, all generated by proprietary sensors which speak their own language on separate communication ports. With the CDL, the data is now in a single language with simple displays for weather Airmen to use worldwide. (U.S. Air Force photo by Linda LaBonte Britt)
