HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Civil Engineering Division Commuter Management Program is set to launch a Clean Air Act survey, also known as the Annual Rideshare Survey, May 20.
Both on-site and remote personnel will be invited to participate in the anonymous and voluntary survey to gain insights into the commuting patterns of Hanscom AFB employees.
“The commuter survey is pivotal to understanding employees’ commuting behaviors, paving the way for solutions that not only enhance daily commutes but may reduce air pollution and traffic congestion,” said Scott Sheehan, 66 CED environmental engineer.
When logging into the Air Force network, Hanscom AFB personnel will be asked to complete the survey.
This annual survey, mandated by Massachusetts environmental regulations and aligned with the Clean Air Act, is designed to take less than five minutes to complete, said Sheehan.
Questions within the survey cover topics such as daily commuting methods and interest in vanpool and carpool options, with opportunities for employees to receive further details.
“Reducing the number of solo commutes by Hanscom Air Force Base personnel is paramount to our environmental stewardship efforts,” said Sheehan. “By doing so, we not only mitigate air pollution and ease traffic congestion but also significantly curb expenditures on road infrastructure projects.”
According to CE officials, federal employees may be eligible for a $315 stipend to assist with public transportation or vanpooling expenses.
The 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron offers a commuter shuttle service for Hanscom AFB military, federal civilian employees, as well as contractor personnel.
The shuttle service offers morning and afternoon runs, with the morning pick up located at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, or MBTA, Concord Commuter Rail Station located at 90 Thoreau St, Concord, Massachusetts.
