HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron offers base employees here transportation services for official business Monday through Friday during extended business hours.

Managed by the squadron’s vehicle operations flight, the taxi service dispatches customers from one office building to another at no cost. LRS does not offer transportation to the Commissary, Base Exchange or similar buildings for unofficial business.

The squadron also provides a free shuttle service, known as E-Shuttle, to Logan International Airport for Hanscom personnel traveling on official orders. Users must request transportation 72 hours prior to travel via a secure website to allow time to schedule a driver and ensure vehicle availability.

This no-cost service is available to Hanscom personnel traveling on official Department of Defense orders and for those departing from or arriving at Logan International Airport. Departures and arrivals must take place between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Personnel may sign up at the LRS SharePoint site located at https://cs2.eis.af.mil/sites/22388/eshuttle/default.aspx.

In addition to taxi services, LRS also offers several types of U-Drive-It vehicles, such as sedans, mini vans, pickups and vehicles with lift gates. These vehicles are for official use on base or if traveling to geographically separated units.

As defined by Air Force Instruction 24-301, "the UDI vehicle is available to organizations and activities of the installation for temporary support of official use functions and operated by personnel assigned to the using agency in support of home-station mission, contingencies, TDY support and combat service support operations."

Use of UDI vehicles is generally limited to a 72-hour period and there are some limitations associated with the program. However, LRS will consider each request on a case-by-case basis.

LRS also offers cargo delivery services for pick up or delivery to Central Shipping and Receiving twice daily from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 3 p.m.
