HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials have purchased various supplies to be disseminated throughout base organizations prior to entering the next part of Hanscom’s phased return to full capacity.

The bulk order includes touch-free and wall-mounted hand sanitizer dispensers, refills and face coverings.

“We wanted to ensure that the organizations on base had supplies available to facilitate a safe return, should that be necessary,” said Dorothy Febbi, chief of Operation Contracting Division here.

Base officials also purchased disinfecting wipes, which are on back-order from the vendor as a result of high demand. In the meantime, they encourage unit government purchase card holders to order spray-bottle cleaning solutions and paper towels as needed.

While installation leaders approved the initial order of supplies, unit commanders and directors will be responsible for additional and follow-on supply purchases for their respective organizations.

“Some organizations may require different cleaning equipment for their environments, like electrostatic sprayers or special disinfectants,” said Brenda Cavallaro, GPC coordinator.

Febbi said building tenants should work with facility managers to determine placement of the mounts and stands. Officials have designated facility managers or an alternate to pick up the supplies.

Col. Chad Ellsworth, installation commander, wrote in a message to the workforce that the health and safety of everyone working and living on Hanscom remained a top priority for senior leaders.

“The push for this supply order was the safety and well-being of our employees,” said Febbi. “We wanted to be sure that before too many people come back to the installation, or return now to perform a critical mission, that they felt safe and could make a proper decision based on our precautions.”

Officials remind personnel that other ways to protect yourself and others from infection include washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.
