HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Child Development Center and School Age Programs here have now resumed care for previously enrolled families.

The CDC will stagger the return based on the priority guidance set by the secretary of defense and plans to have all currently enrolled families requiring care back in the center by the end of this month. Offers for new enrollment will remain ongoing.

“Our team is excited to make the transition back while making sure we keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible,” said Kristin Melvin, CDC director.

Melvin said the CDC staff will continue to communicate directly with families regarding enrollment status.

All children enrolled at the School Age Program have already returned.

According to the 66th Force Support Squadron Child and Youth Services Flight, facial coverings will continue to be worn by all adults and children aged two and older in the center, regardless of vaccination status, in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.

Facial coverings are not required outdoors for children or vaccinated staff.

Enhanced cleaning routines and staggered pick up and drop off times will remain in place though temperature checks will no longer be conducted at the front doors.

“We are asking parents and guardians to perform daily health screenings of children at home,” said Melvin. “If the child or someone in the household is not feeling well, we ask that they keep their child at home.”
