HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Warhawk First Sergeant Council will host the fourth annual Memorial Day Run at the outdoor track here May 24 from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Runners will carry the U.S. flag around the track from sunrise to sunset to recognize and honor the sacrifices of fallen service members.

Master Sgt. Blayne Ralston, a 66th Air Base Group first sergeant, said the event serves as a reminder that Memorial Day is more than just the unofficial kickoff to the summer season.

“This is a chance to reflect on the lives and service of those who came before us, and to ensure their sacrifices are not forgotten,” said Ralston.

The run is open to all those in the Hanscom community with base access.

Participants can register to carry the flag in 30-minute increments either as part of a team or as an individual by scanning the QR code.

“We want to ensure we have someone running with the flag at all times, but even if a spot is filled, come out and run anyway,” said Ralston. “The more runners, the better.”

For additional information, individuals should contact Ralston at 781-225-1302, or their unit first sergeant.
