With two Combined Federal Campaign fundraising events successfully completed, organizers are now shifting their focus to making 100 percent contact with base employees.

Federal employees can choose to make a one-time contribution or a payroll deduction toward the installation's goal of $295,000. The campaign is scheduled to continue through Nov. 16

The campaign kicked off Oct. 3 with a benefit fair attended by 12 local charities.

"The benefit fair was a great kick-off event with more than 50 people attending," said 1st Lt. Elicia Killingsworth, Hanscom's CFC manager. "It was an excellent opportunity to learn more about local charities and better understand their needs."

Charities like the American Red Cross is one organization Killingsworth can speak about from personal experience.

"I never realized how broad the Combined Federal Campaign's scope was before I volunteered to be this year's campaign manager," she said. "I grew up in Biloxi, Mississippi. My family and I were impacted by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the generosity of so many helped my family as well as so many others in the gulf region during an extremely difficult time."

Another fundraising event was Oct. 11. It included a fun run, chili cook-off, pumpkin pie-in-the-face and basket raffles that took place at the Minuteman Commons.

"The CFC main fundraising event was a tremendous success, raising more than $2,300 toward the installation goal," said Killingsworth. "Ninety runners showed up on a beautiful day and leadership was unbelievably generous for the pie-in-the-face that raised $1,300 by itself."

The CFC offers the opportunity to donate to more than 2,000 local and international charities that represent a variety of issues and concerns. Employees have the option of making a one-time contribution or a payroll deduction.

The one-time contribution can be accomplished by filling out a pledge card. The payroll deduction method can be completed by filling out a pledge card or going online at www.easternmasscfc.org and clicking on "Pledge Now."
