Hanscom Inn receiving upgrades Published May 30, 2012 By Mark Wyatt 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The Hanscom Inn recently completed a "whole room upgrade" renovation project to guest rooms in Buildings 1414 and 1427 that included new furniture, carpeting and high-definition televisions along with many other improvements. The project, part of an Air Force funded lodging five year plan, is just the beginning for improvements scheduled for Hanscom Inn customers. 66th Force Support Squadron officials are busy with plans to move the lodging registration desk to the Minuteman Commons where the Tickets and Tours office was recently located. Officials hope this change will be a win-win for the community, as well as guests staying at lodging. "Our goal is to offer a more hotel-like atmosphere to our guests with increased lounge space in the Den and Tavern as well as access to Wi-Fi and enhanced sundries," said Meaghan Meyers, Sustainment Services Flight chief. "Not only will this consolidation benefit our lodging guests, but it's also a services multiplier where we intend to offer the Hanscom community 24/7 access and use of The Commons." The registration desk will retain many of the souvenirs that Tickets and Tours offered. "Much of the gift shop merchandise will remain from Tickets and Tours, such as Boston T-shirts, hats and other souvenirs will be available for purchase from the lodging front desk," Meyers said. Once the registration desk moves to the Commons, the lobby of Building 1427 will be transformed to accommodate guests with Wi-Fi access. "We're excited with the substantial improvements being made not only to our guest rooms with this current renovation, but also with our registration desk moving to the Minuteman Commons," said Ken Sylvia, Hanscom Inn general manager. "The added space in the lobby will allow us to provide customers with computer access in a comfortable environment near a fire place and larger television than in our guest rooms." Lodging officials say that if you want a unique and comfortable experience, you should stay at the Hanscom Inn. Reservations can be made by emailing Hanscom.Inn@hanscom.af.mil or by calling the registration desk at 781-377-2112, extension 0.
