The 66th Force Support Squadron will host a free Health and Fitness Expo for the entire Hanscom community April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fitness and Sports Center.

Various representatives from on-base helping agencies will be in attendance to provide health screenings, tips, samples, demonstrations, giveaways, information and more.

Base agencies participating include the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Chapel, Civilian Health Promotion Services, Employee Assistance Program, Family Advocacy, Fitness and Sports Center, Military and Family Life Consultant, Outdoor Recreation, Patriot Golf Course and the Youth Center.

"The goal of this year's Health and Fitness Expo is to improve the mental, physical, social and spiritual fitness for all members of the Hanscom community," said Steve Grant, Health and Fitness Expo event organizer, who notes that this year's expo is an Integrated Delivery System focus event.

For Department of Defense civilians attending, the CHPS information booth will offer a free blood pressure check and cholesterol screening.

"We're really excited to be providing blood pressure readings and cholesterol screenings to DOD civilians during this event," said Orlagh Pawlyk, Civilian Health Promotion Services Health Promotion coordinator. "We hope the Hanscom community will come out and see what's available on base for them to live a healthier lifestyle."

Members of the community will also have the opportunity to learn more about the many offerings available to them at the fitness center. Instructors will provide demonstrations on the fitness center's climbing wall, indoor golf coaching and more.

In addition, attendees can attend demonstrations in aerobics, karate, yoga and Zumba at the following times:

Karate demo: 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Regularly scheduled yoga class: 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Aerobic demo: 12:30 to 1 p.m.
Zumba class: 1 to 1:30 p.m.

"For those looking to improve their health or interested in learning more about the myriad on-base resources available to them, this year's Health and Fitness Expo will have something for everyone," Grant said.
