Welcome to the Electronic Systems Center's Staff Judge Advocate Legal Assistance Office. The office assists in personal legal needs of active duty military member, dependent, retiree, or those who are otherwise eligible for legal assistance under 10 U.S.C. §1044. 

The Legal office offers attorney consultations, powers of attorney and notary services and single-day will drafting and execution. Please contact us to schedule a consultation or will appointment, or take advantage of our Friday walk-in hours. (Please note that wills and health care POAs are by appointment only.)

tabServices Provided 
Attorney Consultations
Meet with an attorney for advice and guidance on personal legal issues Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m., or Wednesdays from 9 to 11 a.m.. These consultations are by appointment only.

Walk-in Hours
Meet with an attorney to discuss your legal questions during legal assistance walk-in hours, Fridays from 9 to 11 a.m. Walk-in hours operate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Wills and Health Care POAs
Have your will prepared, review it with an attorney and sign it at a will signing ceremony--all in one day. By appointment only, Tuesdays from 9 to 11 a.m., and Thursdays from 1 to 3 p.m. In order to schedule a will appointment you must first complete a Will Worksheet and, if your spouse will also be obtaining a will, a Dual Representation Authorization Form.

To do so, visit the Legal Assistance website to complete any of these documents. Worksheets can be found under the "Legal Worksheets" tab of the Legal Assistance website. Remember to give us your control number when scheduling your appointment. Please double check your spelling and information as we use exactly what you provide our office.

Powers of Attorney
To draft a power of attorney, please visit the Legal Assistance website prior to arriving to our office. Under the "Legal Worksheets" tab, choose the type of power of attorney you would like and fill in the relevant information. Then bring in the control number that was provided to you. This will expedite your time in our office. If you prefer, you can arrive to our office without visiting the website, but this will add time to the process.

Notary Services
Need a document notarized? Notary services are available Monday-Friday any time during normal business hours.

tabEthics Advice 
Ethics Advice for current and former Air Force employees: Current Air Force civilians and military personnel are entitled to speak with an Air Force ethics counselor on a wide variety of ethics issues. Former employees are entitled to discuss issues related to the application of the post-government employment rules to them.

tabClients Eligible For Legal Assistance 
- Active Duty members including reservists, National Guard members and contract ROTC Cadets on federal active duty under Title 10, United States Code.

- Members entitled to retired pay and former members of Reserve components entitled to retired pay under 10 U.S.C. §12731 (formerly 10 U.S.C. §1331).

- Officers of the commissioned corps of Public Health Service who are on active duty or entitled to retired or equivalent pay.

- Dependents of the above groups entitled to a military identification card. (Reserve and National Guard dependents must bring in a copy of orders showing member has been activated for more than 20 consecutive days.)

- Inactive reservists or National Guard Members subject to federal mobilization will only be provided with deployment-related legal assistance.

- Civilian and contract employees deploying to or in a theatre of operations may only prepare and execute wills and necessary powers of attorneys.

Note for Reserve members: After release from active duty, eligibility for legal assistance shall begin on the date of the release and continue for a period of time equal to twice the length of the period served on active duty under that call or order to active duty. Please bring in a copy of your orders to verify eligibility for legal assistance under this provision.

Air Force Legal Assistance and Preventive Law Programs are governed by Air Force Instruction (AFI) 51-504 and Air Force Policy Directive (AFPD) 51-5.
