66th Air Base Group: Security and Policy Review

Fact Sheet – 66 ABG/PA Security and Policy Review

The Department of the Air Force is committed to transparency while safeguarding sensitive information. To achieve this, Security and Policy Review is an ongoing effort to inform the public regarding the department's mission, operations, and programs, while protecting classified information, controlled unclassified information, and other unclassified data that could compromise national or operational security. Before public release, an S&PR must be conducted by Public Affairs.

What requires an S&PR review:

Any material proposed for public release by non-Public Affairs personnel that mentions the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, Department of Defense, or any other government agency's plans, policies, programs, operations, budget, personnel, or activities.

Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Abstracts
  • Briefing slides
  • Dissertations
  • Journal articles
  • Manuscripts
  • News releases
  • Photos
  • Presentation charts
  • Speeches
  • Technical papers
  • Thesis/Dissertation
  • Videos

Review Timeframes:

  • Local Review. Allow at least 10 business days for review after the material is submitted to Public Affairs. Exceptions are granted only in rare circumstances.
  • Elevated Review. Allow up to 60 business days for review after submission.  Complex material may require higher headquarters review (e.g., SAF/PA), which can take an additional 45-60 business days if other federal agencies have equity in the decision to release. Originators should plan accordingly.
  • Based on guidance from Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center and in accordance with DAFI 35-101, Chapter 9 and AFMAN 35-101, Chapter 8, the following may trigger elevation for higher-level review.

How to submit:
