Local towns observe Memorial Day 2021
Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, was first observed on May 30, 1868, to honor those who died during the Civil War by decorating their graves and tending to cemeteries. Since then, it has grown and transformed into a day filled with observances, ceremonies, and parades meant to honor the fallen and encourage us to remember their sacrifices.
