HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Hanscom’s Combined Federal Campaign came to a close Dec. 2 and employees donated more than $135,000, or 90 percent, toward the $150,000 goal.

According to CFC project officers, the campaign, originally scheduled to end Dec. 15 at Hanscom, ended early to allow units to hold their own fundraisers through the holidays.

The goal at Hanscom also included CFC coordinators making 100 percent contact with federal employees here.

"While we have not made it to our goal yet, the campaign will still be accepting donations for the next couple weeks and those will count towards Hanscom’s goal," said Capt. Elizabeth K. Simkus, this year’s CFC project officer. “I admire the generosity of those at Hanscom and appreciate all the work unit CFC representatives have put in to raise awareness.”

Although Hanscom’s campaign officially ended Dec. 2, the national CFC drive continues through Dec. 15.

"If anyone would like to donate, there is still time to do so," said Capt. Christopher McNamee, alternate CFC project officer. "Either visit www.easternmasscfc.org or get in touch with either Capt. Simkus or myself to make sure the donations are sent."

Anyone wishing to make donations before the Dec. 15 national deadline may contact their unit CFC representative or call Simkus at 781-225-0528 or McNamee at 781-225-5621.

McNamee said employees may still also donate through MyPay or CFC Nexus at www.cfcnexus.org.

Hanscom AFB is part of the CFC of Eastern Massachusetts. Employees may visit the CFC of Eastern Massachusetts website at http://easternmasscfc.org for a nationwide list of charities.

The CFC is the largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with more than 300 CFC campaigns held worldwide to help raise millions of dollars each year, according to the Office of Personnel Management CFC website.
