Holiday greetings from the base commander Published Dec. 13, 2016 By Col. Roman Hund 66th Air Base Group Commander HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- With the holidays upon us and the year coming to a close, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all you’ve done. From the moment Hilary and I arrived at Hanscom, we have been impressed by the talented team of individuals that make Hanscom Air Force Base a standout among all Air Force bases. I know Team Hanscom dealt with a number of major challenges over the last year while also achieving significant success. I’ve seen first-hand the many ways in which Hanscom continues to evolve. Behind each organizational success and every challenge we’ve overcome, there are passionate, experienced people who make it happen. We added a new program executive officer and directorate dedicated to nuclear command, control and communications integration at Hanscom. We have increased our collaboration within the region, developed new educational partnerships that enhance our workforce skills and continue to improve and expand the infrastructure needed to support present and anticipated future growth on base. The men and women of Hanscom have proven themselves to be great wingmen and I appreciate the care you show for each other – and for those who are less fortunate. This time of year, we see so many direct examples of Hanscom’s generosity and spirit of volunteerism. The success of the Combined Federal Campaign, holiday Giving Tree Program and the Thanksgiving Turkey drop that provided hundreds of meals for junior Airmen and civilians show the commitment from Team Hanscom to give back and help others. As we move into 2017, I’m sure new challenges will arise, but thanks to all of you, I’m confident we are ready to meet them head-on. In the holiday season, it's time to pause from our busy schedules and celebrate, share good times, good food and the company of friends and loved ones. Please remember those who are deployed and separated from their loved ones – and take some time to reach out to those who are away and those here at home who await their return. The holiday season can be a hectic time. Be careful as you celebrate. Don't drink and drive, and don't let your guests do so either. If you are traveling this season, take every precaution in preparing so you will have a safe journey. On behalf of our center commander, Lt. Gen. John Thompson, our Program Executive Officers, Maj. Gen. Dwyer Dennis, Mr. Steve Wert and Col. Al LaPuma, and all the other senior leaders at Hanscom, thank you again for all your hard work throughout this past year. We extend our best wishes to you and your families for a safe and truly happy holiday and a wonderful new year.
