HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Force Support Squadron has named Sarah Morin the Hanscom Family Child Care Provider of the Year for 2016.

Morin, an Air Force spouse, has been a child care provider at Hanscom since June 2015.

“I'm honored that I was selected as the provider of the year,” she said. “I have met so many fantastic families through doing this, and it feels good that others have seen the care and attention I give to everyone that comes into my home.”

Robin Morris, FCC training and curriculum specialist, who oversees the program, highlighted Morin’s dedication to caring for military children.

“Sarah is a compassionate and nurturing provider, who encourages creativity and has built great relationships with the military families she works with,” Morris said. .

In addition, she credited Morin with helping grow the program.

“She has supported the Family Child Care program by accepting potential providers into her home to allow them a look into how the program is managed,” Morris said. “Her willingness to do this allows the program to grow and succeed, which meets a critical need for more child care at Hanscom.”

Morin got involved in home child care to spend more time with her two daughters, as well as earn an income.

"I was working too many hours and felt I wasn't seeing my family as much as I needed,” Morin said. “I can now spend time with my daughters and watch them learn, grow and socialize with other children.”

In addition to caring for Hanscom children, Morin is a volunteer Key Spouse for the 66th Medical Squadron.

The FCC program offers in-home care for children ages two weeks to 12 years.

“The Family Child Care program is critical in supporting the need for providers at Hanscom Air Force Base,” said Kristen Melvin, Child Development Center director. “When the CDC is at full capacity, we really depend on the Family Child Care program to help support those families in need.”
