Tax services available Published Jan. 4, 2018 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Tax season has arrived and trained volunteers are available to provide free tax-filing services to service members here and those with base access. Active duty, Guard, Reserve and retired military members of any service, and their dependents, are eligible to file at no cost, pending the availability of Tax Center personnel. Trained personnel can prepare simple 1040s, 1040As, 1040EZs, Schedules A, B, EIC, and R, along with other forms and worksheets for taxpayers. The Tax Center, operated by the 66th Air Base Group Legal Office and located in the Burlington Room at the Hanscom Conference Center, will accept clients by appointment only on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. beginning Feb. 6.. Walk-in appointments are not available. Taxpayers must bring hardcopies of all W2s/1099-Rs, interest statements, dividend statements, brokerage statements and complete documentation for any deduction or adjustment, along with a copy of last year’s tax return. According to organizers, the Tax Center continues to seek volunteers to assist with preparing and filing tax returns. Active duty or federal employees interested in volunteering must get their supervisor's approval. Federal employees are encouraged to read Air Force Instruction 36-815 for further information about volunteering during duty hours.
