HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – In this Straight Talk, a member of Team Hanscom asks about reserved parking spots near the clinic and temporary primary school.

Q Is it possible to review the number of parking spaces reserved for preschool near the clinic for people who are working at the nearby buildings?

A Thank you for your question about reserved parking near the clinic and temporary primary school.

We understand these spaces are seldom in use at the beginning or end of your workday; however, we validated that parents use those spaces to drop off and pick up children at the temporary primary school. Specifically, two sessions of preschool operate each day. As a consequence, up to 36 families routinely use those spaces at the following times:

7:45 to 8:15 a.m. for morning drop-off
10:15 to 10:45 a.m. for morning pick-up
Noon to 12:30 p.m. for afternoon drop-off
2:30 to 3:15 p.m. for afternoon pick-up

Many of those families have multiple small children, so they may also need to take strollers in and out of vehicles.
There is no space immediately in front of the school to accommodate this process and the reserved parking in question has worked well since the temporary primary school began operation last spring.

We appreciate your patience in accommodating this temporary situation. These parking spaces will revert to general use when the permanent Hanscom Primary School construction is completed in the November 2019 timeframe.

Thank you for the question. If you have a question and are not sure where to find the answer, I encourage you to contact the Straight Talk line at 781-225-1380 or by email at Hanscom.straightalk@us.af.mil.
