HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Fall Focus Week will take place Oct. 22-26, offering local and distance-learning classes on a wide variety of topics. Registration is open and continues until the day before each course, with some on-site sessions allowing walk-ins.

Focus Week provides acquisition and logistics training, policy updates, operational perspectives and an opportunity to sharpen core skills. Attendees in acquisition-coded positions may also earn continuous learning points.

October’s distance-learning options, offered through Defense Collaboration Services, include functional and technical lessons on cybersecurity, airborne communications, security classification guides and an introduction to open architecture, among others.

Courses held here on Hanscom range from broad themes of provisioning, résumé writing, leadership development and project management to specific courses on Microsoft Project 2010, the Air Force Metrology and Calibration Laboratory program and Green Belt academics.

For example, a professional-writing workshop will help participants develop fundamental business-writing skills, while “Military Interdepartmental Purchase Request Cross-functional Training” clarifies roles and responsibilities necessary for program managers, contracting and finance specialists to ensure a successful MIPR process.

Those who sign up for the “Acquisition Center of Excellence Overview” will learn about the ACE training offered during the pre-award and selection process, as well as resources available to a program team as it prepares to award a contract. And attendees of an interactive leadership-vision course – suggested for logistics personnel and others interested in leadership topics – will be led through an activity to personalize their leadership philosophy.
