Still time to give to Hanscom CFC Published Dec. 13, 2018 By Mark Wyatt 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials here have collected more than $40,000 toward Hanscom’s Combined Federal Campaign goal of $140,000. The last day to donate to this year’s campaign is Jan. 11. "There are still many ways for Hanscom employees to pledge volunteer time or make a monetary donation to one of more than 300 charitable organizations," said Tech. Sgt. Hyun Cho, installation campaign manager. The CFC now allows donors to pledge off-duty volunteer time to charitable organizations. Visit CFC Donor Pledge System at www.opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC to search for charities that offer volunteer opportunities through pledge time. “In addition to the generous amount of monetary donations received so far, base personnel have donated 110 hours of volunteer time to local organizations,” said Staff Sgt. Alexander Wagner, Hanscom’s other installation campaign manager. The Combined Federal Campaign is the largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, according to the Office of Personnel Management CFC website. More than 300 worldwide CFC campaigns help raise millions of dollars each year. “Federal employees may choose to deduct a specific amount from each paycheck or give a one-time donation to an organization via credit card or check,” said Cho. For those who choose the payroll option, officials suggest individuals either fill out a pledge card or visit the pledge site at www.opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC. The OPM website requires users to create an account by providing a government or personal email address and password. Anyone interested in making a one-time donation will need to fill out a pledge card through a unit CFC representative. “Federal annuitants or military retirees once again have the option to make a pledge using their annuity/retirement pay, credit card or direct from their bank account,” said Cho. Anyone wishing to make a donation should visit the CFC Donor Pledge System at www.opm.gov/ShowSomeLoveCFC to create an account and pledge to the charity or charities of their choice. Since its inception in 1961, the CFC has promoted and supported philanthropy through an employee-focused program that provides federal employees a way to give back to their communities through a number of charities. Hanscom, along with other federal organizations in the region such as the National Park Service and U.S. Postal Service, is part of the CFC of New England.
