HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Air Force Life Cycle Management Center-Hanscom officials held a graduation ceremony here Dec. 12 for more than 20 program management interns who recently completed the PALACE Acquire internship program.

With their successful completion, the interns now have permanent, full-time positions managing Hanscom programs.

“The experience molded me into the professional program manager I am today,” said Ashlee Michaud, one of the graduates.

She encourages others following her through the PALACE Acquire program to “have confidence in yourself and don’t be afraid to ask a million questions.”

“Never stop working on yourself, be your own advocate, and latch on to the good mentors when you find them,” said Michaud, who is now the program manager for the C-17 Mission Planning Program.

Patrick Marr, Hanscom’s Program Management career field manager, spoke about the interns’ professional development.

“The interns have experienced both personal and professional growth while dealing effectively and ethically with change, complexity and problem solving,” said Marr.

Cristian Georgescu, a program manager in the Digital Directorate, called the experience “a great starting point for my government career.”

“The yearly rotations certainly made it so that I didn’t have the same experience twice,” he said.

Col. Ryan Mantz, deputy program executive officer for Digital, and the guest speaker for the ceremony, encouraged the newly-minted program managers to “push your programs faster to the warfighter.”

Currently, AFLCMC-Hanscom has more than 35 program management interns in the acquisition career fields.

The PALACE Acquire Program offers employment in a wide range of occupations following a formal training plan designed for both personal and professional growth.

According to the program’s website, the program requires one of the following: an associate's, bachelor's, master's, doctorate and professional or a vocational or technical degree, or certificate within the preceding two years. Those with a master's degree, or with a bachelor's degree and professional experience, may qualify for higher-level opportunities.
