HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- It continues to be a banner year for members of Team Hanscom following the announcement of functional awards by Air Force Materiel Command.
Command officials announced that the 66th Force Support Squadron received the AFMC Maj. Gen. Eugene L. Eubank award for 2018.
"We have a remarkable team of professionals committed to supporting the morale and welfare of Team Hanscom," said Greg Thomas, 66 FSS director.
Airman 1st Class Alishya N. Keeney, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Detachment 7 command section administrator, and Master Sgt. Ryan Dillingham, commandant of Airman Leadership School, also received command-level recognition.
66th Force Support Squadron
Officials present the Eubank award to the best small force support squadron in AFMC that represents the priorities General Eubank placed on the morale and welfare of America's fighting forces to further the overall mission.
Among the notable accomplishments officials highlighted in the award citation was the work of the Patriot Honor Guard.
“Through a 78,000 mile area of responsibility, the Honor Guard program managed 94 ceremonial guardsman assigned to eight sites and utilizing 12,500 man-days for support to more than 2,400 funerals in fiscal year 2018,” said Thomas.
The squadron also hosted several morale events throughout the year for members of Team Hanscom, provided fitness activities for more than 300,000 fitness center visitors and managed a successful Aero Club flight safety program.
Master Sgt. Ryan Dillingham
Dillingham received the Force Support Special Duty Senior NCO of the Year award for AFMC.
FSS leadership highlighted in the citation his work as commandant of ALS.
“Master Sgt. Dillingham proactively enrolled local Coast Guard junior enlisted members, which strengthened relationships with our partners in the Northeast,” said Thomas. “The result was an improved learning environment for 85 future enlisted leaders in the Air Force and the Coast Guard.”
Dillingham also served as president of the Hanscom Top Three private organization, served as a judge for a Lowell Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps drill competition and met with future second lieutenants during a professional development session at Boston University.
Airman 1st Class Alishya N. Keeney
Keeney, an FSS member assigned to Det. 7, received the command’s Force Support Airman of the Year award for the Individual Staff Level.
Detachment leadership noted in the citation her many volunteer hours performed throughout 2018.
“Airman Keeney served as president for the Patriot Enlisted Association at Hanscom, served as a youth soccer coach and planned a ‘Pick-a-Charity’ event that raised approximately $10,000 for hurricane relief,” said Lt. Col. Shana Figueroa, AFLCMC Det. 7 commander.
Keeney also received the airman of the quarter for AFLCMC for the third quarter, served as a Self Aid Buddy Care instructor, was a key member for the Combined Federal Campaign and many other administrative activities that resulted in time saved for unit members.
The Force Support Squadron, Dillingham and Keeney will now compete at the Air Force level.
Last week base officials also announced that 66th Security Forces Squadron and Chapel Team received similar command-level recognition.
