Chief recognition ceremony planned this month

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials will host a recognition ceremony May 31 at the Minuteman Commons for two senior master sergeants here selected for promotion to chief master sergeant.

Senior Master Sgts. Jessica McWain and Stephen Leonard, both members of the 66th Security Forces Squadron, learned about their promotion to the highest enlisted rank last December.

“This is a significant milestone in the career of these outstanding Airmen as they ascend to the top one percent of the enlisted force,” said Chief Master Sgt. Henry Hayes, installation command chief. “Chief Master Sgt. Michael Daly and the team have a fantastic evening planned to celebrate their achievements.”

The guest speaker for this year’s ceremony is Chief Master Sgt. Tamala Hartz, Headquarters Air Force Security Forces Career Field manager.

Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and the formal ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Attire for the evening is mess dress or semi-formal for military and business for civilians. A buffet-style meal from Il Forno Restaurant and Catering is $35 per person.

McWain, who is the Operations and Training superintendent for SFS, entered the Air Force in 2000.

In her role as superintendent, she is responsible for the active duty Airmen and Department of the Air Force Police who secure, protect and defend the installation. She is also responsible for squadron training and military working dog operations.

McWain has held several positions throughout her career in Security Forces. She has also held special duty assignments as a first sergeant and professional military education instructor.

Leonard, an individual mobilization augmentee with Security Forces, enlisted in the Air Force in 1989.

Throughout his career, he has held many positions in multiple career fields, including production control specialist, enlisted aviator, air traffic controller and Security Forces defender.
