HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – More than 60 employers will attend the Airman and Family Readiness Center job fair at the Minuteman Commons here Sept. 24 from 12 to 3 p.m.
The annual event, hosted by the A&FRC Transition Assistance Program, is open to anyone with base access, including soon-to-be or recently separated and retired service members and their families.
“There’s more to a job fair than just searching for a job,” said Dan Mazzuca, Hanscom’s Transition Assistance Program manager. “It’s all about networking and learning what the companies have to offer.”
There is no registration required to attend the job fair and admission is free.
“Employers know service members have a high sense of integrity and strong work ethic as well as supervisory skills you just can’t replicate in the private sector,” said Mazzuca.
All employers attending this year’s fair have current job openings, and opportunities are available in the federal and private sectors. Mazzuca recommends attendees arrive in business attire with updated resumes. Workshops are available at the A&FRC to help individuals prepare.
A “Private Sector Resume Writing” workshop will take place Sept. 17 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and a “Federal Resume Writing” workshop will take place Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to noon. Workshops are held in the Community Support Center, Building 1240, and require preregistration.
Mazzuca encourages as many people as possible to attend the job fair regardless of where they are in their career search.
“Even if plans for a new job are a year or two away, employers are looking into the future,” he said. “It’s never too early to start the research.”
